What are the benefits of window film?

High quality window films represented by C-Thru Window Film offer many benefits including the following:

Eliminates 99% of the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that contribute to fading
  • Significant fade protection for furniture, carpet, artwork, wood, draperies, etc.
  • Reduced fabric, textile and wood deterioration
  • Reduced exposure to UV radiation, which has been linked to skin cancer
Significantly reduced solar heat build-up
  • Increased occupant comfort
  • Reduced air conditioning costs
  • Reduced HVAC equipment wear and tear/maintenance
  • Increased fade resistance
Reduces annoying glare

Adds daytime privacy

Improves aesthetics of existing glass

Maintain a beautiful view of the exterior of your home without needing heavy drapery and blinds

Safety protection against shattered glass in the event of an accident

Deter burglaries by making it more difficult to break through glass

Will window film really protect against fading?

There are six factors that cause fading of fabrics, carpet, wood, etc.

    1.  Ultraviolet Light
    2.  Visible Light
    3.  Heat and Humidity
    4.  Chemical Vapors (including ozone)
    5.  Age of Fabric
    6.  Dye Fastness

Clear single pane glass (1/8” to 1/4”) will reject 23-28% of the ultraviolet light from the sun. Insulated glass is slightly better, rejecting 36-41%. Window films installed on glass reject 99% of solar ultraviolet light.

Different types of clear glass and dual pane window systems will reject 13-29% of the solar heat. With window films, 83% solar heat rejection can be obtained.

No window film can eliminate fading. It can, however, offer maximum protection from fading due to solar ultraviolet light and solar heat.

How long will window film last?

The effective life of window film will vary by the type of film, window construction, compass orientation of glass, and in which part of the world the building is located. Quality window films can last 25 years or more.

Can I have my dual pane windows tinted?

Yes. Our residential window films are designed to be safe for dual pane installations and carry warranties that match existing window manufacturers’ coverage. Call us at 847-272-8468 for complete details.

Which film is correct for my application?

All window films are not created equal. Therefore, at C-Thru Window Film, Inc., we carry lines from only the top manufacturers in the industry. This includes designer lines as well. With this large selection, we can accommodate a specific request that you have, or help you find the one that you find most efficient and aesthetically pleasing to meet your needs. We carry both reflective and non-reflective films, in a variety of tints to embellish the beauty of your home and its surroundings. If you are worried about shattered glass or “break-ins,” we can assist you in selecting a thicker film meant for security purposes.

What is graffiti film?

Graffiti film is a clear coating that is applied to any glass or mirror that is vulnerable to a lot of abuse. Example situations range from the display case at a jewelry store to the mirrors in a school bathroom to a store front. When the item looks “abused,” the film is simply removed and a new piece is applied. This saves on the cost of replacing the item entirely, and the area appears fresh again!
